We're a family company in Hatfield that builds the slings holding up other people's work. Small enough that you'll know everyone's name, serious enough that what we make has to be right every time.
Nelson Wire Rope has been owned and run by the same family since 1979. It's now in its third generation, and a good number of the people on the floor have been here for a large part of that.
We fabricate and proof test in house, so the work is hands-on and the feedback is immediate. You see what you built go out the door. Because we're small, nobody stays in one narrow lane: people who start in the warehouse learn to fabricate, people who fabricate learn to inspect, and the person who answers the phone knows what a swaged socket is because they've made one.
What we can't be flexible about is safety. Everything we send out is rated equipment that someone will stand under. That shapes how we train, how we check each other's work, and who fits in here.
Openings come up as they come up. These are the roles that make up the company. If one of them sounds like you, we'd rather hear from you before we're hiring than after.
Building wire rope and chain slings to order: measuring, cutting, swaging, assembling and proof testing. Mechanically minded and careful with detail matters more than prior rigging experience; we train.
Inspecting slings, hardware and below-the-hook equipment to ASME and OSHA standards, in our shop and at customer sites. Requires a clean driving record and the kind of person who writes down what they actually found.
Receiving, stocking, pulling orders and running deliveries around the Philadelphia region and into New Jersey. A good entry point into the trade; most of our fabricators started here.
Taking calls, quoting, and helping customers figure out what they actually need. Product knowledge is teachable; patience on the phone and follow-through are not.
