Nelson Wire Rope has been a family business since 1979. Same shop, same family, same standards. We've grown because we don't cut corners: not on product quality, not on service, and not on the people we work with.

Our mission

We supply and fabricate equipment for lifting, moving and securing. Wire rope and chain slings are built in our Hatfield shop, proof tested, and tagged before they leave.

Our mission is simple: build rigging we would trust ourselves, treat customers fairly, and never trade safety for price or speed.

Company history

Nelson Wire Rope is a third-generation, family-owned business, established in 1979 by Jack Nelson. Drawing on years in the wire rope and steel industry, Jack laid the company's foundation with the crucial support of his sons Rick and David Nelson, who were just 24 and 22 at the time.

Together they grew Nelson Wire Rope from a small wire rope shop into the full-service rigging supplier it is today. They built not just a company, but a reputation: for quality that doesn't cut corners, for service that picks up the phone, and for knowing the work because they've done it themselves.

Today, Rick's sons Steve and Rob Nelson own and run the company together. Still in Hatfield. Still family.

Founded Nelson Wire Rope in Hatfield, PA on a foundation of deep industry knowledge and an uncompromising commitment to quality. Built the company from the ground up alongside his sons, teaching them not just the business, but the standards it would never compromise on.
2nd generation
Rick & David Nelson
Joined the business as young men, ages 24 and 22, and grew it into the full-service rigging and lifting supplier it is today. Expanded fabrication capabilities, the product catalog, and the company's reach across the region.

Brothers and co-owners continuing the family legacy. Leading Nelson Wire Rope into its next chapter, with expanded services and the same commitment to quality and safety that Jack Nelson instilled in 1979.

We know rigging because we’ve been building it since 1979. We fabricate wire rope and chain slings in our Hatfield shop, stock what our customers use every day, and help people work out what they need when the answer isn’t obvious. Above all, nothing leaves here that we wouldn’t put under a load ourselves.
